Congratulations! We hope you enjoy the delicious hot drinks that you can make  
with your new Cocoa~Latte Express Personal Hot Drink Maker from Back to  
Basics®. You will find this unique personal machine easy to use at the office, at  
home and on-the-go. The Cocoa~Latte Express quickly heats and whips your  
instant cocoa, coffee and tea mixes into gourmet café-style mochas, tea lattes,  
flavored milk steamers and more. Your Cocoa~Latte Express is also great for  
making hot ciders, wassails, teas, toddies, grogs and many other favorite hot  
drinks.  
Due to the unique design and function of this appliance, please read all instruc-  
tions before use. Save these instructions and refer to them for any cleaning and  
care tips.

sonal Hot Drink Maker from Back to Basics®. Your new Cocoa~Latte Express  
Personal Hot Drink Maker is designed for one year warranty & years of use. This  
motor requires several uses for initial break-in. You will notice that the motor  
speed and vortex action increase after the first several uses.

ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY  
Back to Basics Products, Inc., warrants your new Cocoa~Latte Express  
Personal Hot Drink Maker to be free from defects in materials and  
workmanship under normal household use for a period of 1 year from the date  
of purchase. During this period, such defects will be repaired or the product  
replaced at Back to Basics® discretion without charge. This warranty does  
not cover exterior or interior finish or damage caused by misuse, accident, or  
negligence.  
A purchase receipt or other proof of date of original purchase will be required  
before warranty service is rendered. Please fill out and return the warranty  
registration card located on page 10.  
If a problem with this houseware item develops during or after the warranty  
period, please contact Back to Basics Products, Inc. for service.  
If service is required:  
• Send a brief letter explaining the problem. Be sure to include your  
name, address, and phone number.  
• For faster service, call 801.523.6600 or e-mail [email protected].  
• Most service problems are resolved with the replacement of a broken  
or defective part. If this is not the case, we will give you instructions for  
returning the unit.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS  
WARNING: A risk of fire and electrical shock exists in all electrical  
appliances and may cause personal injury or death. Please follow all  
safety instructions.  
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should  
always be followed:  
• Read all instructions before using.  
To protect against electrical shock, do not put cord, plug or  
the motor body in water or other liquid.  
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by  
or near children.  
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning.  
• Avoid contacting moving parts.  
• Do not operate any appliance that appears to be  
malfunctioning in any manner or has a damaged plug or cord.  
Return appliance to Back to Basics®
for repair or mechanical  
adjustment.  
• The use of accessory attachments not recommended or sold  
by back to basics® may cause fire, electric shock, or injury. Do  
not use!  
• Do not use outdoors.  
• Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter  
or touch hot surfaces.  
• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electrical burner or in a  
heated oven.  
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use.  
• Do not remove mixing container from motor base while motor  
is running.  
• Keep hands and utensils out of the container while mixing to  
reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the  
machine.  
• Always operate with the lid in place.  
• Be sure to turn the switch off after each use.  
To disconnect, grip plug and pull from wall outlet. Never pull  
on the cord.  
• Never leave the house while the appliance is on.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS  
• A short cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from  
becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.  
• Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use.  
The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be  
at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. The  
extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape  
over the counter top where it can be tripped over or pulled by  
children.  
• This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than  
the other). To reduce risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a  
polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the  
outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified  
electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.  
• Do not touch hot surfaces, use handles or knobs.  
• Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance  
containing hot liquids.  
• Do not run the motor while the mixing container is empty.  
• After running the motor continuously for one cycle, wait at least  
five minutes before running another cycle.  
If you experience any problems with your machine, unplug it  
immediately from the electrical outlet, then contact  
Back to Basics® at (801) 571-7349.

OPERATION AND USE  
Before First Use  
Before using your Back to Basics® Cocoa~Latte Express Personal Hot Drink  
Maker wash the mixing container and lid with soap, water and a soft cloth.  
Important: Do not wash any parts in the dishwasher and do not immerse  
the base or the mixing container in water. This may permanently damage  
the product and void the warranty.  
Making Hot Drinks  
Your Back to Basics® Cocoa~Latte Express Personal Hot Drink Maker  
is designed to make delicious, hot and frothy drinks using milk or water  
combined with instant cocoa, coffee or tea mixes and syrups.  
Easy Instructions  
The measurements used below produce one 8-ounce servings. Refer to the  
ingredients chart to determine usage for alternate serving sizes.  
1. Remove the lid from the insulated mug.  
2. Pour 8 ounces of water/milk into the insulated mug  
3. Add 2 to 4 tablespoons of your favorite instant mix.  
4. Replace the lid back onto the insulated mug  
5. Plug in the Personal Hot Drink Maker.

Press the “ON” switch, the Light will indicate that the machine is on.  
Your machine will begin to mix and heat the hot drink. When your hot  
drink reaches the perfect temperature, the machine will automatically  
go idle. At anytime during the mixing and heating process  
you may press the “OFF” switch to turn the machine off.

Turn OFF the Personal Hot Drink Maker and enjoy. THE UNIT WILL  
REMAIN ON UNTIL YOU SWITCH IT OFF.  
NOTE: Unplug unit from outlet when not in use.

NOTE: Different instant cocoa, coffee and tea mixes may vary from quantities  
shown in this chart. Please use the quantities specified on the packaging of  
the specific instant hot drink mix for exact measurements. Fat content of milk  
and mixes will also froth differently. Use caution not to over flow cup. Do not  
fill above max-line with mix and liquid combined. Skim milk will froth more than  
whole milk.  
PERFECT TEMPERATURE FEATURE  
Your Personal Hot Drink Maker is designed to maintain the perfect temperature.  
Once the hot beverage reaches the perfect temperature, you will hear the motor  
has stopped running and you will see that the mixing paddle has stopped  
mixing. The machine is now off. Once the hot beverage cools down, the unit  
will automatically reheat and remix back to the perfect temperature (about  
30 minuets). You may at any time press the “OFF“ switch to turn the unit off.  
THE UNIT WILL CONTINUE TO CYCLE ON & OFF UNTIL THE SWITCH IS  
TURNED TO THE “OFF” POSITION.  
CLEANING  
Your Back to Basics® Cocoa~Latte Express Personal Hot Drink Maker should  
be cleaned after every use. Please allow the unit time to cool before cleaning.  
Do not wash any parts in the dishwasher and do not immerse the motor base  
or the mixing container in water This may permanently damage the product  
and void the warranty.  
1. Remove the mixing container from the base unit.  
2. Pour out any unused portion of your hot drink.  
3. Without submerging the unit, wash the interior of the mixing container by  
pouring a combination of a mild detergent and water into the mixing  
container and wipe clean with a soft damp cloth. Do not use any

abrasive detergents or scrubbing pads as this will scratch the coating on the  
mixing paddle and/or the plastic container.  
4. Wash the lid with mild detergent and water.  
5. Wipe the exterior of the motor base and mixing container with a clean soft  
damp cloth.
